My Pets Dental
Perhaps the most nerve wrecking times we face involve surgery for ourselves or our pets. With this in mind it is our goal to assure you that we take
every surgical and dental procedure seriously. We continuously monitor up to 12 parameters including your pet's heart, blood pressure,
temperature,respiration, and the anesthetic agent. If your pet is under 12 weeks, or over 6 years of age we require pre anesthetic blood tests. In all
other cases we strongly recommend pre anesthetic tests no matter how short the procedure.
Healthy teeth = less odor, better overall health, less oral discomfort.
Please do not underestimate the danger of unchecked dental problems in our canine and feline friends. The danger is a result of the slowly
progressing disease process that goes unnoticed by you. This process begins with gingivitis which is an inflammation of the gingiva. This
disease process can end in Periodontitis, which is inflammation of the ligaments and tissues which hold the tooth in its bony socket. Plaque is
the primary cause of gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis by itself is treatable and reversible. Periodontitis can result in loss of the tooths
supporting structure. The loss of the tooths supporting structure is not reversible. Advanced periodontal disease can ultimately lead to bony
destruction in the tooth sockets, thus jaw fractures. Perhaps the greatest danger in these processes are the bacteria which estabish
themselves. The bacteria can spread to any organ in the body via the bloodstream and cause severe and deadly infections.
